FOUNDATIONS OF ART
Foundations of Art is the art class focused on using the elements and principles of design as they are applied to many art disciplines. Students will recognize the arts as a form of visual communication. Student activities will include basic color theory, three-dimensional projects, drawing and painting projects and the initial development of a portfolio.
Students will use the sketchbook as a tool for demonstrating experimentation, thoughtful ideas, journaling, drawing and note taking. As a “survey” course, this class will enable the student to make informed choices in selecting additional courses for their continued study.
Sculpture
Visual art can be a lifelong enrichment and make the world beautiful in many ways, but art is not just surface decoration. Within every wonderful piece of artwork is someones personal story, struggle, rapture, political justice, voice in the world, explanation of their surroundings, definition of something they want to explain, and many more messages that can only be told visually. How the artist visually communicates is unique to each individual and is an important language to learn.

“I believe everyone can do art, you start at where you are. Just have growth in my class." - Mr. Wirth
